Welcome to FD Surveys Ltd
Fire doors are a critical and fundamental element of a buildings fire protection and are found in almost all buildings. The primary function of a fire door (also known as a door set) is to prevent fire and smoke spreading unchecked throughout a building in the event of an emergency.
This is a fundamental requirement, ensuring that escape routes remain clear of heat and smoke whilst occupants/ building users exit the building safely. This preventative measure also has the ability to greatly reduce the extent of fire and smoke damage to a building or business.
Following the reported failings of passive fire protection in various building fires such as the Grenfell Tower disaster, the importance of regular, in depth checks of passive fire protection has been significantly highlighted.
Under the terms of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, your fire doors should be regularly inspected to ensure they meet the necessary safety standards.
Fire Safety Regulations 2022 brought in changes that went live in January 2023 that required annual checks to flat front doors and quarterly checks to common area fire doors in buildings over 11 metres in height
